CORRECTING and REPLACING ADEAGies Foundation Celebrates 10 Trailblazers in Academic Dentistry and Oral Health

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–First paragraph, second sentence of release should read: The Gies Awards, named after William J. Gies, Ph.D., honor… (instead of: The Gies Awards, named after legendary dentist and biochemist William J. Gies, Ph.D., honor…). Also, second paragraph, second sentence should have the word "also" added so it reads: “Dr. Gies’ landmark report in 1926 on dental education not only transformed academic dentistry and oral health, but also foresaw modern-day collaboration across the health professions.”

Coveted Education Award Honors the Timeless Legacy of William J. Gies, “Father of Contemporary Dental Education and Research”

Today the ADEAGies Foundation® announces recipients of the 2018 William J. Gies Awards (the Gies Awards) for Vision, Innovation and Achievement. The Gies Awards, named after William J. Gies, Ph.D., honor individuals and organizations that exemplify the highest standards in oral health and dental education, research and leadership.

The contribution that Gies made on academic dentistry is “incalculable,” says Leo E. Rouse, D.D.S., FACD, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the ADEAGies Foundation. “Dr. Gies’ landmark report in 1926 on dental education not only transformed academic dentistry and oral health, but also foresaw modern-day collaboration across the health professions.”

The 10 honorees were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges and industry experts, including the ADEAGies Foundation® Board of Trustees.
